Abstract

Latar Belakang: Stres adalah masalah kesehatan mental yang paling umum dialami oleh ayah pada masa perinatal. Stres yang dialami ayah selama masa perinatal dapat mempengaruhi pekerjaan, serta berdampak besar pada hubungan dengan pasangan dan anak. Masalah kesehatan mental pada ayah terkait dengan masalah kognitif, emosional, sosial dan perilaku pada anak Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui stres yang dirasakan menjadi ayah pertama kali. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi, teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling . Wawancara dilakukan secara mendalam melalui tatap muka. Peneliti menyusun hasil wawancara dengan cara mentranskripsikan hasil rekaman dalam bentuk verbaltim dan mengelompokkannya ke dalam kategori yang kemudian dijadikan tema dan subtema. Analisis Data : Dari analisis hasil diperoleh tema hambatan menjadi ayah pertama kali, penyebab stres pada ayah pertama kali, straregi mengatasi stres dan harapan ayah kepada petugas kesehatan. Kesimpulan: Selama masa transisi, ayah baru mengalami berbagai macam respons emosional. Kurangnya waktu istirahat, kesulitan menyeimbangkan pekerjaan dan peran sebagai ayah baru merupakan penyebab stres pada ayah baru. Berpikir positif, bekerja dan melakukan self reward dilakukan sebagai pengalihan stres. Ayah menginginkan lebih banyak informasi terkait persiapan menjadi ayah baru dan akses informasi yang lebih baik oleh petugas kesehatan.
