The Relationship Between Reproductive Health Knowledge and Attitudes Toward the Prevention of Unintended Pregnancy

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Adolescence is marked by the emergence of sexual signs and the maturation of the reproductive system. At this time they are interested in trying various things and raising problems that threaten pre-marital sexual behavior. Teenagers often fall into premarital sex which causes pregnancy, one of which is due to a lack of knowledge about reproductive health, which causes unwanted pregnancies (KTD) in teenagers. Method: This case is still widespread and is in the spotlight in Indonesia. The aim of this research is to find out relationship between knowledge about reproductive health and attitudes towards preventing unwanted pregnancy (KTD). The research design used cross sectional, with a population of 447 young women at SMA Negeri 8 Kediri City. Sampling used stratified proportional random sampling, obtaining a sample size of 82 female students who met the inclusion criteria. This research instrument used a questionnaire, then the data was analyzed using the chi-square test. Result: Result: which showed that there was a relationship between knowledge about reproductive health and attitudes towards preventing unwanted pregnancies (KTD) in young women. Discussion Based on the results of this research, teenagers should be able to increase their self-awareness to prevent teenage pregnancy.
